Maria's First Confession

Maria's First Reconciliation

Maria makes her first Confession

A few weeks ago my daughter Maria hit a milestone, her first Confession. This is the beginning of her experience of God's merciful love, healing and forgiveness conveyed in this Holy Sacrament of Reconciliation. She celebrated this Sacrament with her family, classmates and their families. Fr. Ireland, pastor of St. Gregory the Great gave a wonderful explanation of this Sacrament and especially encouraged us parents to avail this awesome gift and set a living example of going to Confession as a family on a regular basis. Afterwards we took Maria to "Eat at Joe's" for a great breakfast to accompany a great day!

My own experience of this Sacrament has been one of healing, strength, God's loving forgiveness and freedom to follow Jesus with new vigor and love. I now look forward to bringing my daughter to Confession with me. It has been a joy to do so with my son Michael. Thank you Jesus for giving us this awesome opportunity to experience your healing love and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I will leave you with the words of Jesus in his Gospel according to St. John chapter 20 Verses 21-23;

"Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

  1. May Our Lord continue to bless her with His many Graces! He is so very happy when we come to Him in true contrition as the little ones do, as your sweet Maria no doubt did!
